Where Is Apalachicola

Where is Apalachicola, historic homes, Apalachicola, where can I find Apalchicola

The Port of Apalachicola came in to being in 1822. Before that time the area around the Apalachicola river was inhabited by Indians for 10,000 years.

The Apalachicola Bay is has been rich in oysters for centuries and the Indians came here to eat the delicious shell fish. Many Indian mounds are in the Apalachicola area.

The primary reason why there was no settlement at the river's mouth until 1821-1822 was because the lands at the mouth of the river were isolated from the hinterland by a large network of bayous and swamps. The river also empties into a shallow bay.

The Apalachicola area is now known as forgotten florida because it is still un-spoiled. No high-rise or dense crowds.
